  • Did you miss me?

Ok...so it's been more than 2 months since my last post.  I am sorry that I have neglected Xanga and you.

So what have I been up to?

I just came back from Cambodia abt 2 weeks ago.  It was an "errrr...." fine trip.  Quite an experience.  Bumpy tuk tuk rides, uneven roads after the floods at Siam Reap.  Ang Kor Wat Visit.  Aching legs.  Tight itinerary...what have I got myself into?  I went to Cambodia, looking like a "panda bear"....came back looking more like a tanned "panda bear".

My flight was 10.30am in the morning.  Slept at 12am the nite before.  Woke up at 6.30am to get ready.  Took the cab to the airport at 7.30am.  Arrived around 8am.  Cousin was slightly late.  Checked in.  Went to roam around the DFS, cousin got her mum a Dior Lipstick.  We went to Aldo.  Guess what?  20% storewide discount.  Since it was the last day of the promotion, got myself a clutch (which I have used it for my little cousin's wedding) and a chuck of bangles.  My cousin got herself 3 pairs of earrings.  Got myself a good deal.

We had some time left so we had some light breakfast from Kiliney Coffee Shop.  Silkair served breakfast but we were really too hungry...

Time for boarding and we were on the way to Siam Reap.  Arrived on time.  After collecting our luggages, we went to the arrival hall and our Tuk Tuk driver was there waiting for us.  Abt 30 minutes ride to 8 Rooms, simple guesthouse which is owned by a Singaporean.  Receptionists and bellboys were young and good looking boys, haha...Room was simple but presentable / clean.  After washing up, we went out...Dropped by the National Museum, Royal Garden and went to get our 3 days pass for entry to the Angkor Wat the next day.  Sunset was free since we had the 3 days pass.  Our Tuk Tuk driver sent us to watch the sunset.  Climbed up the hill, almost went out of breath.  Guess what....no sunset, what a waste of time!

Took the same path back.  It was dark at abt 6pm.  Thank, god...I had my touch light.  Found our driver, went for dinner and had some Cambodian Fried Rice.  Went back to the guesthouse and that was day 1.

Day 2 - woke up at 4am.  Our driver was waiting for us to send us to catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat.  It was quite crowded by the time we arrived.  According to our driver, the sunrise is expected to be at 6.30am.  Waited for more than 1 hour.  Much to our disappointment, we were not able to catch the sunrise too.    Went in to the Angkor Wat Temple - One of the 7 wonders.  Took lots of pics...After 2 hours, we were tired.  Went to have breakfast and we were off to other temples...

Day 3 - woke up at 5am not to catch the sunrise but because the temples we were going to visit this time were further so we need to set off earlier otherwise, it will be too hot later in the day.  Wouldnt elaborate more....we got lost in one of the temples and couldnt find our driver, we have to turn back and after a walk of muddy path and water, we found him but before that, we were surrounded by a dozen of cambodian kids "pushing" us to buy their merchandise and drinks....tried to reject them politely but in the end, got 2 bottles of water from one of the kids.

Day 4 - woke up at 6am, went for trekking to catch the "famous" waterfall.  Not an easy trek as we have to go thru the stream, climbed up the rocks...spent abt an hour before we reached the peak.  We did see the waterfall but due to the flood, the water was pretty high and we couldnt see the engravings beneath the water.    Going down the trek was tougher than climbing up.  Since it was raining, we had our poncho on.  Fell down thrice due to muddy road and sprained my ankle..

Day 5 / Day 6 - woke up at 5.50am, for checking out at 6.30am to catch our bus to Phnom Penh (PP), it was a 6 hour drive from Siem Reap.  Arrived and my first thought - wat a dusty city.  Checked in at our 2nd hotel for the trip - Blue Lime, Pretty hotel but we were there for only a nite.  Went to the Russian Market for some shopping, Central Market for more shopping and dinner at a local restaurant before we headed back to our hotel.  Need to check out the next day...so we went to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda in the morning and checked out from our hotel.  We checked in at our 3rd hotel - River 108 which was prettier than Blue Lime and of course, for the price we paid.  We didnt fully enjoy the facilities as we need to head out to the killing fields and the museum.  After dinner, we headed back to the hotel.  Rested for a while and went out on our own.  Bought a book and some souvenirs, had ice cream and relaxed for the rest of the evening.

Day 7 / 8 - Woke up at 5.30am to check out at 7am.  We have to catch the bus back to Siem Reap.  Another 6 hours drive.  The rest of the days were spent going to more markets and more shopping, hehe....we were running out of money as we need to depart from Cambodia the next day.  Were left with US$ 3 in my purse and my cousin - NIL.

This trip made me realise how lucky we are.  Kids in the 3rd world countries were not able to have a proper education.  Too many poor people around....it's hard to describe but you will know how I feel if you are to go there one day...

Will update more later.  Need to get back to work now.

  • So wat's new?

Well, it has been a little while since my last brief update...so what has been going on in my life for these past few weeks?

1st July - Celebrated my 31st birthday.  Hurray...ehh....ok, so I am 31 now.  No big deal.....I remembered that I cried over my birthday last year cause I couldnt believe that I turned 30, so quickly....I got over it and so this year, I am older than last year....oh well.

One thing I really love abt birthday is the whole lot of presents I am going to receive.  I guess my favourite gift is really a new Cell Phone.   Two of my nice guy friends got me a white Nokia N97.  So I "dumped" my 6500 Classic Slide for this.  Dun worry, old gal..I might see you soon.

Also received stuff toys, new top, cash, jewelleries, facial products, Swarovski ornament, Tods Clutch all the way from Sydney.

Bought a new Louis Vuitton Passy GM for myself.  I alway get myself a present every year.  Just self comfort for getting older each year.

Two of my uncles passed away.  Not exactly on the same day but coincidentally, my 2nd Uncle passed away exactly 2 weeks later (On the same weekend too) after my 3rd Uncle.  I dun really like attending funerals cause I get very emotional.  I burst into tears too easily.

Nobuo is still unreachable.  I will try to send him a text message once in a while.  No reply from him.

I am pretty much busy with work as usual.  Tried to go off early for movie or drinks.  My last 2 movies were "UP" and "Hungover"....I guess I need some comedies in my life to perk me up.

Booked my ticket for Cambodia.  Will be there from 04th Oct for a week.  Cant wait....

P/S: Nam, if you want to join me, I am there from 04th Oct - 10th Oct, first 2 days at Phnom Penh and remaining days, Siem Reap.

And also my upcoming trips in the next few months.

    Dec 09 / Jan 10 - Japan

    Jan / Feb 10 - India

    Apr 10 - Vietnam

    I so love holidays!!

That's the update for now...till my next...

  • Singlehood..

Is he still alive?  Has his vessel collided with another vessel and split into two?  Or maybe his vessel has crossed the Gulf of Aden and he got kidnapped by the pirates?

....I guess I have only realised that he just does not care abt me.  We have been dating for more than 5 years but I feel like I do not understand him at all.

Do all Japanese men behave the same?  I have heard too much that Japanese do not make a good lover and they are the most unromantic and chauvinistic creatures in the world.

I do not feel the same abt him.  When we were together, he was very sweet.  He does not talk much but that's him.  I recalled the sweet memories when we were in Dubai and Japan.  It's so hard to understand what has gone wrong.

I guess I can safely declare my singlehood for now.  It has been more than 5 months since I last saw and heard from him.  I was worried abt him initially due to his sudden "disappearance" but now I feel nothing.  I have wasted enough time waiting and waiting....not for these few months but for the last few years.  Love is blind but it has been blinding me for years to make me realise now.

Relishing my single status means that I am making up for lost time.  I know I gained a relationship that's given me fond memories, but what I am going to experiencing now is giving me so much more.  A freedom to be true to myself, a sense of love for this incredible, always surprising world, a chance to explore who I am and what I am really passionate about, with only myself to answer to, which provides an honesty and sincerity that makes this journey all the more rewarding.

  • I am a survivor...

A cough which will not stop and terrible backache which has tortured me over the weekend.  For the past 1 week, I have been coughing non-stop.  I thought that I will just die but....

I went to the doctor last Thursday.  Initially, he suspected H1N1 disease.   Asked if I have been travelling, told him that I went to Portugal one month back.

    "Ok, that does not count."

Took my temperature.  Normal.  Took my blood pressure.  Normal.  Then he decided that I have some minor virus infection.  Gave me some flu medicine, some pills for throat inflammation and cough syrup.

Almost finish up my medicine but it does not make a difference.

Anybody has any good remedy for cough?  I have decided that if the doctor cant cure me, I need to cure myself...it does not help that I have been chewing ice cube for the past couple of days....I cant help it.  My throat is so dry from all the coughing and I need something cooling to soothe it.  It feels better for a while though.

    Urgh!  I hate getting sick!

About Me

  • I am not really a poet or a writer. I have started writing poems and philosophies about life somewhere end of last year. No doubt I have written a number of articles but it just didn't seem right. What I wanted to write was something that would show me how to reconcile my deepest spiritual, authentic and creative longings with often overwhelming and conflicting commitments - to my parents, brother, invalid boyfriend, work in the office, work in the world, friends and community. I knew that I wasn't the only one in this world to feel this frazzled, depressed and worn to a raveling. I also certainly knew that I wasn't the only one in this world with answers. And the ironic truth was that I didn't ever know the questions. Always we ignore what our heart is telling us. Our authentic self has not abandoned us. Instead it has been waiting patiently for you to recognize and reconnect.

Pulse
